When you score three goals at home you would expect to collect all three points. However, that wasn’t the case for Watford with Southampton securing the points in a 4-3 win at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

Troy Deeney told the Official Website that all were frustrated by Watford’s inability to score enough goals – and conceding too many soft ones like we did against the Saints – to win.

He feels this will remain the case unless we see improvement, which includes better work defensively.

‘We`re disappointed and very frustrated. It seems at the minute that we`ve got to score ten to win a game. We don`t seem to defend well as a team at the minute so we need to sort that out.’

This responsibility falls on everyone with Deeney stressing how important it is for Watford to add to a lead when we’re on top instead of the Hornets looking to hit teams on the counter attack.

Watford’s captain concluded.

‘I think we need to take responsibility and look to get a second and third once we take the lead instead of trying to hit them on the counter-attack. We`ve started two games with early goals now and seem to retreat so we need to press and continue on a positive note.’
