Watford have announced the signing of Nathaniel Chalobah on a permanent basis from Chelsea.

Chalobah, of course on loan at Watford during the 2012-13 season, one of six loan spells he had undertaken during his Chelsea career, including Italian club Napoli most recently, has signed a five year deal at Vicarage Road.

The Hornets confirmed his return on Thursday for an undisclosed fee.

During Chelsea’s Premier League winning campaign last season Chalobah, 22, played 15 times and was handed his first league start for the Blues, ironically enough, against Watford.

An England U21 international, part of the side that made it to the semi-finals of the European Championships last month, Chalobah had made an incredible 97 appearances at various levels for his country.

This transfer to Watford will allow Chalobah to feature regularly at club level as the midfielder looks to continue his involvement with the national side into the senior squad under Gareth Southgate, who had capped him for the U21s.
