In order to keep Middlesbrough left-back Andrew Taylor Watford must stump up more in wages or sign the Hartlepool-born full back on a permanent basis they have been told.

According to The Watford Observer Middlesbrough have told Malky Mackay he must pay more in wages for the impressive Academy product or make a move to bring him to WD18 permanently.

Neither option will really suit the Hornet’s who have little or no money with which to prise Taylor away from his parent club whilst an increased percentage of his wage would not be financially viable either.

Malky Mackay has confirmed though that he expects Jordon Mutch to return to Vicarage Road sooner rather than later once the former Derby County schoolboy has signed a new deal with the Blues:

‘We`re looking at the various options but ideally I would like to keep the players we`ve got,” Mackay said.

“They enjoy being here and they enjoy their time here and their education here, and I think they are both better players for being here, so it would certainly suit us getting them back.”
