Watford`s shaggy haired midfielder John Joe O`Toole has become the latest Hornet to depart Vicarage Road for the red and white pastures of Sheffield Utd after agreeing a loan deal to the rest of the season.

O`Toole started the season on fire with his free-scoring, all action antics but has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of Brendan Rodgers, who clearly doesn`t rate the one time Republic of Ireland U21 international midfielder.

12 goals in 39 games from O`Toole speak from themselves but despite being linked to Newcastle, Fulham and Wolves in recent months, the Londoner hasn`t made a Watford league start since being hauled off at half time in the Boxing Day massacre by Bristol City?

That was 10 games ago and it`s rare that O`Toole even makes the 16-man matchday squad these days such has been the fall from grace under Rodgers.

Still, let`s not kid ourselves – despite the emergence of Jenkins, Cowie, Williamson and Cork, it is a loss – JJ`s ability to be in the right place at the right time was a highlight on many a dark afternoon before Christmas but his weaknesses in other areas (workload, passing, ability to tackle back) have always split the Hornets faithful.

Good luck at Bramall Lane John Joe?
