Watford have completed the quick fire transfer of versatile Sheffield United defender Leigh Bromby for a fee of £600K (rising to £800K based upon promotion clauses and appearances).

The 27 year old centre back/right back, who comes armed with one of the longest throws in football (a weapon no doubt Aidy Boothroyd will put to good effect), put pen to paper on a 3 ½ year deal in a deadline day switch described by Watford as “done in almost record time”.

Bromby jumped the Steel City divide when he moved from Wednesday to Sheffield United in 2004 and played his part in over 120 games for the Blades, scoring 6 goals.
