No news is good new they say, but at last news has come regarding Hornets dynamo, Al Bangura.

The Sierra Leone star will face a personal hearing next week which will decide whether or not his application for a work permit has been successful.

His initial appeal to stay in the country was rejected. However, after much hard work from chairman Graham Simpson and MP Claire Ward, and finally, us fans, Bangura was granted special dispensation to appeal for a work permit.

After an agonizing period which has now stretched for well over two months, the carrot is at the end of the tunnel as Stuart Pearce once proclaimed! In all seriousness however, Bangura will face a six-man panel from the home office to solve his future, hopefully in this country.

The club released this statement:

‘Watford Football Club have been working hard to obtain and collate the documentary evidence needed to display to the panel that Bangura’s talent as a professional is undeniable and that a return to Africa would all but end his career as a top-class footballer.’
