Former Watford striker Moses Ashikodi has been offered a short term rolling contract at Div 2 promotion hopefuls Shrewsbury Town after being sent packing from Vicarage Road.

Ashikodi, who never really settled into life at WD18 (ok, we concede he also had a couple of horrific injuries), will be hoping to find the same form in the league`s bottom tier that saw him complete a successful loan spell at Bradford a few seasons back – before breaking his leg.

Speaking about the arrival of Moses, Shrews boss Paul Simpson said “Looking at him I thought he was just that bit different to the strikers that we already have here – he`s someone who has a bit of pace about them?”.

The former Millwall and Rangers youngster got the chance to kickstart his career after impressing in a stiffs run out against Sheffield United.

Simpson added “I decided that it was a bit of a no brainer to get him in?he did well – it was more about the way he went about things, the positions he got into”.

Oh, and a couple of goals to his name helped as well.
