Hardly a ring to it, but Watford gaffer Adrian Boothroyd is allegedly now on the shortlist, lined up by the Blackburn board, to replace Mark Hughes in the Ewood Park hotseat.

The source of these rumours? The Times, which, unerringly, is the most reliable source for Watford news statistically – not wishing to put a hoodoo on Boothroyd’s future, but there you go.

Mark ‘Sparky’ Hughes, former Welsh international boss and Red Devil of course left Lancashire yesterday to become a Citizen in the Manchester rain and now 37 year-old Boothroyd is cited alongside Alan Shearer and Sam Allardyce as the front runners to replace him.

With Blackburn playing a similar style of football to the Hornets and their, ‘up and at em’ attitude, it might be the perfect move for Adrian (who has split the Watford fans over whether his future remains at Vicarage Road)!

Plus he’d finally get his hands on long standing striker target Jason Roberts!
