Dave Hughes’ Academy side go down 3-2 to Hertfordshire outfit Stevenage in their latest Youth Alliance league fixture
WATFORD’s Under-18s threw away a two-goal lead against Stevenage on Saturday, losing in injury-time.
The young Hornets took a two-goal lead with a brace from the in-form Alex Jakubiak before goals from Jimmy Hartley and George Casey levelled the scores up.
Harold Joseph headed home in injury time to hand Stevenage the win and push Watford down to sixth in the Youth Alliance South East Conference.
Watford’s opener came from a swift counter-attacking move, Jazzi Barnum-Bobb and Ryan Hope making progress down the flank before sending in a cross for Jakubiak to head past the ‘Boro ‘keeper.
After the break, subsitute Kurtis Cumberbatch released Jakubiak and the forward drilled home to double Watford’s advantage.
Stevenage got one back when they countered effectively, Hartley shooting past Dan Wilks with the aide of deflection from Harry Kyprianou.
With 15 minutes remaining, Casey equalised, sweeping home from the left.
In injury-time, Stevenage stole all three points as Joseph headed in from a corner to win an action-packed clash.
