Aidy Boothroyd insists he is yet to recieve an approach, let alone a bid for star striker Marlon King, whilst the rest of the world implies otherwise.

The Hornets top scorer is alleged to have said he wants to leave Vicarage Road, and although he remains defiant, Boothroyd could loose King Marlon.

Reading are the latest club to add their presence to the growing list of King’s admirers.

The Daily Mirror today says the Steve Coppell will outbid new Fulham cheif Roy Hodgson and pay £5million for Marlon. Hodgson was believed to be prepared to part with four million.

Aston Villa were also believed to be tracking King’s progress in the Summer but he duly signed an improved contract.

It strikes me as highly unlikely that Steve ‘Scrooge’ Coppell would part with five million for a single player considering his Summer ‘spending spree’ of under 3million.

That said, Leroy Lita wants out from the Madjeski Stadium so a possible swap deal could be on… ? Or am I grabbing at straws?!
