Fulham have issued a ‘take or leave it bid` of £5m to Watford for striker Marlon King, after a deal for journeyman Italian striker Cristiano Lucarelli [Shakhtar Donetsk] could not be struck, according to Sky Sports.

The Cottagers have seen 2 previous bids rebuffed by the Championship play-off contenders and it is believed that Roy Hodgson turned his attention to 32-year old former Torina and Liverno striker Lucarelli but a move for the ex-Italian international could not be brokered.

Hodgson has therefore returned his thoughts back to King as he seeks to bolster his attacking options ahead of this weekend`s clash with Arsenal and the Premier League strugglers seem insistent that they will not return with a higher bid should Watford turn down their latest offer.

Glory Hornet boss Aidy Boothroyd still maintains though that King is not interested in making the move to Craven Cottage to join a side “who we [Watford] might be changing places with at the end of this season”.
