Pre-season got underway with a defeat at AFC Wimbledon on Saturday but Watford have now gone off to Austria for a training camp.

The time in Austria will include two friendlies against Czech club Viktroia Plzen and Spanish outfit Eibar as Marco Silva looks to step up the training ahead of his competitive bow as Hornets boss in the Premier League next month.

Silva has taken a 31 man squad, which includes, for the first time after summer arrivals, Will Hughes and Nathaniel Chalobah.

However, captain Troy Deeney has remained in the UK ‘for his short rehabilitation period on a minor groin injury,’ said the Official Website.

Squad in full:

Gomes, Pantilimon, Bachmann, Arlauskis, Femenia, Janmaat, Dja Djedje, Cathcart, Britos, Prödl, Kaboul, Mariappa, Kabasele, Hoban, Holebas, Rowan, Watson, Doucoure, Cleverley, Behrami, Capoue, Amrabat, Berghuis, Pereyra, Chalobah, Hughes, Zarate, Success, Okaka, Sinclair, Oulare.

Previously sidelined by long-term injuries, Watford are boosted by the inclusion of two others.

Robert Pereyra, signed from Juventus last season but sidelined since December due to a knee injury, has travelled along with January arrival Mauro Zarate – the forward suffered cruciate ligament damage shortly after his arrival from Fiorentina.
